St. Francis de Sales Lobby

ABOUT THIS PROJECT

St. Francis de Sales High School is a private, Roman Catholic High School in Chicago, Illinois. It is located on the southeast side of the city, in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Chicago. In collaboration with Wheeler Kearns Architects, Integro’s scope for this project involved the renovation and upgrade of the north lobby entrance.

The north lobby of St. Frances de Sales High School was a high-traffic area for students entering and leaving the building. As such, the design incorporated a concrete microtopping application which is an extremely durable compound that also provides aesthetic appeal. The microtopping application requires correction of the existing concrete using mechanical grinders to both clean and even the existing surfaces. The microtopping was then applied with a color palette that provided vibrancy and resembled the branding colors of St. Frances de Sales High School. The vibrant colors of the exterior lobby contrasted with the woven ceramic tile installed at the interior lobby.

Integro was challenged on this project to accommodate an aggressive completion schedule prior to the new school year starting.

Ultimately, the final product at the north lobby featured an upgraded aesthetic designed to represent the pride of St. Frances de Sales High School while also providing the durability required for the use of the space
